Extendicare Hamilton is a two-storey, 160 room long term care facility. The scope of work included the construction of four wings: three which are sleeping and bathing areas and one wing which include the main dining, kitchen, laundry and administration. L.J. Barton Mechanical installed the plumbing and HVAC with all required equipment. The heating is a combination of hot water and gas fired forced air. Suite heating was done with ceiling mounted radiant panels. L.J. Barton Mechanical installed the sprinkler system throughout the whole building as well. The challenge the Construction Team faced was that we had to build the facility twice. When the first construction went up in flames during construction, it was about 80% complete. The cause of the fire was never determined however L.J. Barton Mechanical was not responsible for any wrong doing as our fire watch policy was followed and documented. L.J. Barton Mechanical continues to service all plumbing, HVAC and electrical needs of Extendicare Hamilton.
