Jim Barton, President of L.J. Barton Mechanical Inc. was the proud recipient of the 2008 Building Excellence Award in the Institutional ($750,000 - $2 million)category for their performance on the Delhi District Secondary School project. Barton accepted this prestigious award at the GVCA’s Annual Awards Gala on behalf of all the dedicated and hardworking L.J. Barton team members that made it happen. “The challenge with this project” Barton said, “was that we had to completely renovate and upgrade the Secondary School’s aging power plant, lighting system and other energy improvements – including asbestos abatement - in less time than summer break allows!” Barton continued, “we couldn’t be more pleased with the acknowledgement of our efforts and receiving this award.” Not only was the project completed on time, but according to a Grand Erie District School Board spokesperson, “…selection L.J. Barton as the GC was an easy decision given their skill and reputation – and the L.J. Barton team aced the project despite massive project scope changes – without any time extensions.
